Senior Sabot Success:

Known as a Sabot the Naples Sabot is an 8 foot, 1 person, one-design sailboat that has been the sailing trainer of choice in Southern California for nearly 60 years.  During that time, the Naples Sabot has created some of the finest and most talented sailors in our sport. The most competitive Sabot fleet for years has been the Senior Sabot Championship.  This has been highly contested for over 30 years and Ullman Sails has been there since the beginning. The Masters are also highly contested with great sailors from many generations competing.

This year was no exception.  Top sailors were dieting and tuning their boats for months leading up to the event held on Mission Bay and hosted by Mission Bay Yacht Club and San Diego Yacht Club.  The Seniors had 17 boats and the Masters had 25.
Mark Gaudio for the 14th time won the Senior Sabots using his Ullman Sails SF1 Sabot main as well as 3rd place Freddie Stevens.  Mark Gaudio has used Ullman Sails in almost every National Championship he has won from Lido 14’s to Cal 20’s.  He is now involved in the Andrews 70 Alchemy for the 2009 Transpac also an all Ullman Sails program. In the Masters division Ken Wild came out on top of the 25 boat fleet with Betty Becker in 3rd both with Ullman Sails.  Ullman Sails would like to congratulate all the champions and the clean sweep of Ullman Sails at the top.
