i550 Build underway in the NW Little boats starting to make a big splash!
Mark Foley's i550

The i550 class is a home built 18' sport boat that was originally designed for the Micro Ton Class but has evolved into a box rule sport boat for fun fleet racing at a relatively low cost. The i550 concept is gaining traction in the U.S. and Ullman Sails Seattle is working with one of the NW boats currently under construction.

Mark Foley, a native new Zealander who lives near Olympia, WA is well under way with his i550 build. Mark, a professional home contractor with previous boat building experience, is looking forward to finishing the project and getting out on the water. With a number of i550's and box rule 18's being built in the NW this will be a fun fleet to watch. What else is there to do over the winter in the NW if you don't ski or like sailing in the snow? - build a boat!

Mark's boat will be equipped with a set of Ullman Sails Fiberpath Sport upwind sails - and a V Series Asymmetrical spinnaker.

Mark's boat is a Christopher Beckwith design. Information can be found at: http://www.duckworksmagazine.com/07/designs/i550/index.htm
