GPL The Longest Lasting Race Sails

GPL The Longest Lasting Race Sails:

Carbon GPL from Dimension Polyant is by far the most durable racing laminate ever made.  It has proven itself over the last 12 years winning several One Design and Grand Prix races.  The 2009 Rolex Big Boat Series in San Francisco was won by Velos a Tanton 73 using a 3 year old GPL Carbon Main and Genoa.  Not only did Velos win but they won with straight bullets in all 6 races.  This has been a recurring story with the GPL Carbon Sails.  The weight is slightly more than with load path sails such as FiberPath but 2 years into the racing it is clear that durability is built into our GPL Carbon sails.  Ullman Sails has built thousands of these sails and have used them all over the world in all types of conditions including the hot humid environment of Acapulco Mexico to the winds of San Francisco and Perth Australia.

Since GPL Carbon comes in many weights Ullman Sails has been able to use them in boats as small as Capri 22’s up to Mega Yachts and everything in between. Ullman Sails has won National Championships in several classes using the GPL Carbon sailcloth from Capri 22’s and Olson 30’s to Beneteau 40.7’s and the 70’ Sled class.

The GPL Carbon laminate schedule uses a very tough Technora scrim with a Technora X Ply and Large Carbon (3500 to 7000 Denier per yarn) yarns.  These large yarns allow the center of the yarn to bend freely without damage while the outer part of the yarn stays laminated to the films as protection for the inner yarn.  This makes an almost unbreakable combination.

Shrinkage that is very common in race laminates is almost eliminated in the GPL Carbon because of the large denier yarns used.  This keeps the designed shape in the sail for a longer period of time.  That keeps you on the race course near the front longer and gives a the best value in racing sails for the serious racer. Call Ullman Sails today for price on the best value in racing (619) 226-1133 or (206) 234-3737.
