Ullman San Diego's Chuck Skewes sent this report from Alchemy shortly after finishing:
"Big wind most of the race from 20 to 36 knots. Big waves. We did a 346 mile day hit a high of 31 knots of boat speed with A4. Had 0 sail problems. Used a GPL main, Blade, AP 1 and Jib Top all way above ranges. JT reached for 18 hours in over 20 knots in sea of Cortez.
Had at least 1 average of over 20 for over an hour. 4 different drivers hit speeds of over 28 knots durring race. Finished in just under 4 days. Race is 1000 miles.
Used the A2 from 9-20 knots of wind and A4 in everything above. Used A1 in transition at Cabo and A3 in 25 knot reaching for 4 hours. In the pic we just peeled to A3 and are doing 24 knots. Artie took picture from the end of the pole right after spiking away A4."
Full report to follow. Congratulations to the Alchemy crew of Per Petersen, Will Stout, Artie Means, Dave Gould, Parker Mitchell, Jay Davis, Greg Clark, Mark Mauer and Mike Herlihy
