The 2010 San Diego - Puerto Vallarta Race, hosted by San Diego Yacht Club kicked off with the famous pre-race party on Feb 18th and Div 3 starting on Feb 19th and Div 1 & 2 on the 20th. Per Petersen's Andrews 68 Alchemy blasted down the coast finishing the 1000 mile race in under four days and taking first in Div 2 and third overall. Peterson and crew beat the TP 52 Flash by almost two hours on corrected time. Alchemy has a 100% Ullman inventory. Jack Taylor's Santa Cruz 50 Horizon took first in Div 3 over Durant Brizendine's Santa Cruz 52 Relentless by 2 1/2 hours. Both boats have complete Ullman inventories. Ullman San Diego's Chuck Skewes sent this report from Alchemy shortly after finishing: "Big wind most of the race from 20 to 36 knots. Big waves. We did a 346 mile day hit a high of 31 knots of boat speed with A4. Had 0 sail problems. Used a GPL main, Blade, AP 1 and Jib Top all way above ranges. JT reached for 18 hours in over 20 knots in sea of Cortez.
Had at least 1 average of over 20 for over an hour. 4 different drivers hit speeds of over 28 knots durring race. Finished in just under 4 days. Race is 1000 miles.
Used the A2 from 9-20 knots of wind and A4 in everything above. Used A1 in transition at Cabo and A3 in 25 knot reaching for 4 hours. In the pic we just peeled to A3 and are doing 24 knots.
