Tornado Class:
Mast jig at Ullman Sails Italy

The Tornado has been the multi-hull choice for the Olympic sailing for over 32 years.  It was designed in 1967 and is still one of the fastest beach cats around. The Tornado is 20’ Long and weighs 340 pounds.  When it was originally selected as one of the choices for the Olympics there was a selection regatta to choose the first multi-hull.  The Tornado won easily and was the Olympic Class ever since.

In 2000 the class adopted the spinnaker and second trapeze.  This kept the class at the front of development and increased performance once again.  Ullman Sails has been at the fore front of sail development for the Tornado and has won most of the Olympic medals in this class over the last several Olympics.  Charlie Ogletree of Ullman Sails won the silver medal in the 2004 Olympics.
Pablo Soldano of Ullman Sails Italy is the lead designer in the Tornado Class and recently was named by the class as the exclusive sailmaker to the class.  This means that every Tornado will be sailing with Ullman Sails.  This was awarded to Ullman Sails because of their devotion to the class and the track record of great performance.  Ullman Sails Italy has a mast bend replicator on premise where they can set Tornado mast in the jig and custom fit a main to each mast type to duplicate performance. Ullman Sails Italy also works on the Formual 18 sails and A Cat mains.  With experts in each field of sailing Ullman Sails is able to stay ahead of the competition and bring the best products to sailors world wide.
