The tightest race in this fleet was between Alchemy and Holua , sailing within sight of each other for the last 800 miles. Alchemy put 5 miles on Holua in the last 7 hours when it came to the A4 conditions. Alchemy sported a new Plastic Fantastic A4 that showed exceptional speed. Grand Illusion showed the best performance of the race taking first in class and first overall coming into their home town of Honolulu. The top 4 overall for this Transpac were West Coast 70’s Grand Illusion 1st, Pegasus 2nd, and Alchemy 3rd, and Holua 4th. Four of the top 6 overall were Ullman Sails customers as well. Winning their classes with Ullman Sails were Horizon, Bad Pak, and Patches.
The race ended with the typical windy Molliki Channel that took down some sails in the last couple miles, but was fairly light overall during the middle week of the race.
