Cruising Season to Mexico has started with Baja Ha Ha Cruisers are off

This is the start of the cruising season for sailors heading south to Mexico and beyond.  Latitude 38 has played host to the Baja Ha Ha for many years encouraging the migration south.  San Diego is the last U.S. stop to get necessary repairs and supplies that will be harder to get once cruisers cross the border.   This year Ullman Sails and Pacific Offshore Rigging put on a seminar on offshore cruising along with a free BBQ that nearly 100 cruisers and cruiser want to be’s attended.

  The seminar went over rigging to how to sail back upwind along the Baja coast.  This will be an annual event here in San Diego.  This years Baja Ha Ha has over 180 boats from all over the west coast and beyond.
Some Cruisers like to lead or follow the Baja Ha Ha crowd to enjoy a more serine atmosphere on their cruise, while other like the safety and security of cruising in groups.  About 30% of the boats travel on further after the event is over and just use it for a launching pad for the South Pacific or world travels.  There are several resources for traveling south of the boarder that are free and very usefull.
