San Diego Hot Rums Ullman Sails places in 5 of 6 classes
Velos the Tanton 73

December 1st 2012 was the final Hot Rum in San Diego presented by San Diego Yacht Club. This 3 race series had a variety of conditions for the series with the best for last. The winds for the last race was 10-16 knots and sunny skies. With 124 boats participating it is one of the best attended races on the west coast.

The race uses a pursuit starting order with the fastest boats starting over an hour after the first boats. San Diego not known for having large tides was having a 6 foot exchange on this day making the decisions even harder. Velos the Tanton 73 powered by a 100% Ullman Sails inventory was the best of the day winning the last race overall and the first and last race in class, but the consistency of Dennis Conner and his crew on Stars and Stripes won the series in Class A The overall winner was Anarchy sailed by Scot Tempesta after a protest removed one of the A class boats. Ullman Sails won 2 of the 6 classes and placed in 5 of the 6.
