Oregon Offshore 2014

Ullman Sails takes overall win!

Oregon Offshore 2014 Ullman Sails takes overall win!

The Oregon Offshore 2014 turned out to be a blast! Starting at the mouth of the Columbia River near Astoria Oregon  with 15 to 20 knots at the start, rising to 25 to 33 knots at Destruction Island and finishing in Victoria BC at about 20 knots. It was a record breaker with “Icon” shaving 4 hours off the record.

The overall winner was Ward Naviaux and his Santa Cruz 27 “Blade Runner”. They completed the 193 mile course in just under 24 hours allowing only the IRC and Class A boats past, not bad for the second slowest rated boat in the race.  Blade Runner used their new Code 0 from Ullman Sails for a great part of the reach up the coast.  Walt said “it really lit the boat up!”.  This is where they had their largest gains.

Blade Runner is gearing up for the 2014 double handed Pacific Cup in July.  It looks like they are off to a great start.

Andy Schwenk from Northwest Rigging will have a more detailed account soon.
