ULLMAN SAILS TAKE 1ST, 2ND AT SKIPJACK REGATTA

There are few things in the Chesapeake watermen community that are more

hotly contested than the annual races of these magnificent old sailing vessels and

this year proved to be one of the best.

Captain Wade Murphy, Jr. of the ‘Rebecca T Ruark’ and Captain Tom Parks racing

the ‘Rosie Parks’ took First & Second Place!

Building, maintaining, working and racing the native Chesapeake Bay skipjack is all

part of a dying art, being kept alive by a small handful of Captains, foundations

and museums including Captain Murphy and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime

Museum. We are proud to have had the opportunity to work with these two

entities and others like the Echo Hill Outdoor Schools in keeping the old working

boats outfitted with the finest and fastest of traditional working sails.

We at Ullman Sails Mid-Chesapeake also appreciate our partners in this

collaborative effort, Ullman Sails Virginia. We believe that working with our sister

lofts within the Ullman Sails family helps us to create the best working, cruising

and racing sails on the Chesapeake Bay!
