C&C115 at Seattle NOODTue, 19th Aug 2008By Chuck Skewes  The 2008 Sperry Topsider NOOD Regatta in Seattle had a one design fleet of C&C 115’s. Six boats made the regatta and the conditions were near perfect with 90 degree sunny skies with snow topped mountains framing the venue. The first two days of the three day event had 12-16 knots of wind providing perfect racing. Sailing the New C&C 115 in a One Design regatta The 2008 Sperry Topsider NOOD Regatta in Seattle had a one design fleet of C&C 115’s. Six boats made the regatta and the conditions were near perfect with 90 degree sunny skies with snow topped mountains framing the venue. The first two days of the three day event had 12-16 knots of wind providing perfect racing. I was asked to sail with the local C&C dealer in Seattle on a brand new inventory boat equipt with Cruising sails from Ullman Sails. The boat was 100% race ready from the factory and took no set up time to go out sailing. We practiced on Thursday to get positions ironed out since we were sailing with the brokers and service department personel from Marine Service Center of Seattle and Anacortes along with Tim Jacket of the Tarten and C&C manufacturing. The racing was tight with 3 different boats winning races and most marks having multiple boats overlapped. There were lead changes in every single race and multiple lead changes on a couple of the races. The boat sailed great and was very easy to keep in the groove from the second we left the dock on this first sail with the boat. The speed of the boat in the light air on the last day was impressive. We sailed through the J-105’s and even caught up to the One Design 35’s. Considering that these boats have an interior superior to most cruising boats this was a great accomplishment. At the end of the regatta we were second and the winning boat was a well sailed boat that has been in the water for 18 months. The entire fleet had a great time and support of the dealer was fantastic. There were special class trophies awarded for the regatta and will be perpetual for years to come. The event sparked a lot of interest in the boat. The C&C 115's were the biggest boat in the regatta and next year are planning to have as many as 15 boats registered. Jeff Carson from Marine Servicecenter received the trophy at the Awards banquet held at the Seattle Yacht Club on Sunday night as Dan Krier handed out the perpetual trophies for the West Coast Championships of the C&C 115.
