PSSC (Puget Sound Sailing Championships) Ullman Sails Dominates

Puget Sound Sailing Championships is one of the biggest regattas in the the Pacific Northwest.  It is held in the Fall anually at Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle at Shishole Bay Seattle.  It is a two day event with two courses for boats in size from Santana 20's to TP 52's.

PSSC (Puget Sound Sailing Championships)

PSSC was sailed on October 11th and 12th in the Pacific Northwest.  It was a great event with sunny skies, snow topped mountains and light winds.  Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle did a fantastic job on getting several quality races over 2 courses. The North Course sailed 6 races over the 2 days with the South Course sailing 11 races over the 2 days.  The competition was tight and boats competing from as far away as Vancouver British Columbia.  With 88 boats competing over 12 classes this is the big Northwest regatta to put and end to the summer sailing season.

Ullman Sails showed the best performance percentage of any sailmaker (37% winning 65% placing) at PSSC this year winning 3 classes and placing in 3 more.  Grafix the Soverel 33 sailed by Tom Gilbert and Dave Martin continued its dominating performance over the last year by winning 5 of the 6 races in the event and winning by 7 points with 100% Ullman Sails and a new A-2 Asymmetrical Spinnaker.  Mike Schiltz dazed the J105 fleet with 5 bullets as well with Eric Kristen on Jubilee in second, both having Ullman Sails.

The San Juan 24 fleet was once again won by Gil Lund on Snappy Tom with Ken Johnson on Grauer Giest taking 2nd both boats sailing with Ullman Sails.

The Melges 32 sailed by the Campbell family won the highly competitive Fleet 1 with Ullman Sails as well.  This fleet’s result came down to the last race.

The Flying Tiger Prowler skippered by Kirk Leslie was second in fleet and first place amateur driver in the 8 boat fleet.  Kirk traveled down from Vancouver B.C. for this event.
