Etchells Program Update
New Etchells DCM Jib in Melbourne

The weekend of Arpil 4-5 2009 the very competitive San Diego Etchells fleet headed out for their two day one design regatta.   The conditions were very typical for San Diego with clear sunny skies and 8-12 knots of wind.  The Ullman Sails Etchells development sails MK 1 were delivered just days before the weekend for their first test in San Diego.  It is early in the program but the first race was won convincingly by Ullman Sails DC AP Main, DCM Jib and Supermodel Spinnaker. These are the same design that won the Pre-Worlds in Melbourne Australia last month.

The program is right on track for the 2011 Worlds in San Diego.  Ullman Sails has always had success in all the sail development programs that they have had over the years and this Etchells program is no different with great results from the start. The 4 boat testing program in San Diego starts in May of 2009.  From this Ullman Sails will develop sails that work the best in the medium San Diego conditions.  San Diego has the greatest depth of talent in the Etchells fleet with 4 fleet members in the top 10 at the 2008 Worlds in Chicago.  For that reason Ullman Sails picked San Diego and the 2011 Worlds as the platform for development.
