Ullman Sails is Exclusive Sailmaker to WIRW Whidbey Island Race Week Welcomes Ullman Sails

Ullman Sails has just been named the exclusive Sail Making sponsor of 2009’s Whidbey Island Race Week! This premier Seattle area event is the west coast’s only week-long regatta, and one of just three remaining week-long regattas in the United States.

Whidbey Island Race Week typically hosts about 130-150 boats from Canada to California.  It is hosted by Oak Harbor Yacht Club and has been dubbed “Adult Summer Camp” by the thousands who have enjoyed this regatta due to it’s competitive yet festival-like atmosphere.  The biggest difference between Whidbey Island Race Week and the other 2 week long regattas in the United States is that Whidbey is held in an affordable venue.  For 25% the cost of going to Block Island or Key West the racing is very competitive and the venue fun.  They even have a tent city that has nightly parties after the famous rum tent.  With the hotels running discount rates for sailors and the restaraunts holding weekly specials not to mention the incredible deals for meals at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club all week for dinner and breakfast.

The breeze fills in most days by 11:00am from the straights of Juan De Fuca and the race gets underway with approximately 10 classes.  Daily awards are given out and live music during the after race parties every night are the standard.  Many One Design classes have used this venue for their District, National, or North American Championships over the years.  For Northwest sailors this event is a must do.

This year Ullman Sails is proud to be doing all the overnight sail repairs competitors may require after every day of racing.  We will have a vehicle there receiving all the repairs at the head of the dock. We will also have a booth at the event headquarters in Oak Harbor, for sailors to meet the Ullman Sails Team and Ullman Sails will be offering a special on any sail ordered during the regatta.
