Islands Race

Islands Race

Earlier this year Tom and Terry Manok purchased a J120 from San Diego.  They needed to replace the sails and came to Ullman Sails to fill that need since Ullman Sails has had so much success in the class.  They were not disappointed.  The first race with their new sails they took the overall victory in the Islands Race hosted by Newport Harbor Yacht Club and San Diego Yacht Club.  This race is the first of the Ullman Sails Offshore Championship.

The winds were all over the board with great breeze starting the race with the beat out to Catalina Island and a medium air reach to San Clemente Island.  As the sun set the wind became a little lighter until it became very light and shifted to a south easterly breeze for the trip back into San Diego.   The night was fairly cold but when morning came the sun was out and everyone had a nice 10 knot breeze to make it back into San Diego.

Congratulations to all the winners and to the new leaders in the Ullman Sails Offshore Championship.
