Velos on their way to victory

Kjeld Hestehave has been racing the Tanton 73 Velos for many years.  Velos has won its fair share of races including an impressive win at the 2011 St Francis Yacht Club Rolex Big Boat Series in San Francisco.  One race that has been raced many times but eluded the Velos skipper and crew has been the San Diego to Puerto Vallarta race.  This year was different.  With crew from Seattle, and Southern California they had a great race and came out on top.

Velos and Swazik the Swan 45 took an early lead in the race staying just ahead of the light air on the race course as they sailed past Cedros, half way point of the Baja peninsula, letting the longer water line work.  Getting through the transition at Cabo without a major set back, Velos was able to keep extending and finished at the ideal time of day while the wind was still up.
Velos competed with 100% Ullman Sails. Next for Velos is Transpac 2015 from Los Angeles to Hawaii.
